The skeptic swore, "There is no God! No God!- I can do anything I want! I'm more animal than human; so-called human intelligence escapes me.
"I flunked 'wisdom.' I see no evidence of a holy God. Has anyone ever seen Anyone climb into Heaven and take charge? grab the winds and control them? gather the rains in his bucket? stake out the ends of the earth? Just tell me his name, tell me the names of his sons. Come on now- tell me!"
The believer replied, "Every promise of God proves true; he protects everyone who runs to him for help. So don't second-guess him; he might take you to task and show up your lies."
And then he prayed, "God, I'm asking for two things before I die; don't refuse me- Banish lies from my lips and liars from my presence. Give me enough food to live on,neither too much nor too little. If I'm too full, I might get independent, saying, 'God? Who needs him?' If I'm poor, I might steal and dishonor the name of my God."
Proverbs 30:1-9 MSG
The skeptic and the believer, what if i told you they were one and the same. In verses 1-4 the "skeptic" are the words of weary broken down man that knows he is not wise, especially compared to God. He doesn't believe mankind could take credit for God's work in going to heaven and back or the creation nor the control of earth. Having said that, he is a man who has experienced God's glory, his miracles, his grace and mercy. As he goes into verses 5 and 6 to say God's word proves true and he is protector for all those who seek him. Then the man goes onto pray. It was the prayer that stuck out the most to me.
The man prays to never be in luxuriance or in deprivation, he prays for a happy medium. This hits home so much because I feel like as a God fearing man, I should go after the Fathers heart, I don't want to forsake him or discredit him. He has moved mountains in my life, blessed me immensely and continues to every day. Finding a spot of contentment in life, to me is a necessary part of keeping God first and above all else. As i mentioned in a earlier blog we can't be devoted to God and be enslaved something else.
